Although Sam Wilson has built a reputation for himself as one the top axe-men in central Virginia, He has always thought of himself as first and foremost a songwriter. This love of songs, the simplicity of a musical moment, has been the driving force in Sam’s musical career.
His latest solo effort “Late nights and Lonely Hearts” is an attempt to articulate this, to return to the original inspiration which made him pick up a guitar in the first place. This sophomore release is a true testament of pure musicianship featuring beautiful songwriting and virtuoso performing. Sam Wilson as an artist and this record transcend generations. Late nights and Lonely Hearts was recorded primarily in a cottage in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, late at night. Quite frankly, that’s the way it sounds.
