John Thackston, a multi-talented twenty-year old from Charlottesville, Virginia, never stops working. With one EP coming out June 28th and another in the works, John shows the drive it takes to make it in the new music business. But working hard is not the only thing John has going for him; his music speaks for itself. Worries wash away as comforting notes flood the soul with his unforgettable melodies and soothing voice. And the best part is that he doesn’t write to please nor does he play to become famous. John writes because he simply loves music and he sees that it has the ability to affect the world around him. You can feel in his lyrics and music that he has what so many others struggle to find: true passion.
John has been enveloped in music since early childhood, though it has been during the last six years that writing has become even more prominent in his life. He even thinks in terms of songs. When he feels a song coming on, he rushes to a piano to get his thoughts out, not able to take a break until the song is done. With songs inspired by everything from love to the craziness of life to interactions with other people, John Thackston has a writing style that can relate to anyone.
John performs on his own and with his band around his hometown of Charlottesville. He has performed his original songs in front of audiences all over, opening for acts such as Parachute, Hot Chelle Rae, and Brendan James. John has proven with his newest EP (to be released June 28th) that he has the perseverance, the desire, and the talent to continue writing beautiful songs that touch souls in any walk of life. John Thackston knows what this whole thing is about: “making music and enjoying the ride.”
